Bill Griffith has been providing passionate guitar lessons since 1963!
Bill Griffith Guitar School offers private guitar lessons for beginner to advanced players, from Monday to Thursday afternoons in St Marys.
From 6 years of age to seniors in their 70’s, you are never too old or too young to learn under the guidance of Bill Griffith.
Over the years Bill has had the pleasure of leading an extraordinary life of music, including but not limited to:
- Being the youngest Australian to open his own guitar school
- Being the founder of the Flying Music Teacher Service
- Teaching at multiple high schools & colleges around Sydney
- Becoming the official Guitar Teacher for the NSW Department of Correctional Services.
- Creating, Writing & Publishing Guitar Teaching Books & Audio-Visual Lessons
- Becoming a Recording session guitarist with EMI Records
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
The acoustic guitar is a great place to start for both beginners & seasoned players alike. It can be strummed as a rhythmic instrument, or played finger style on nylon or steel strings.
Within the first few lessons for beginner students, they will learn rhythm, how to play basic notes & chords, and even take on a simple song or two!
For more advanced students, a lesson plan will be created in person to escalate your guitar skills to a new level.
Bill will teach you:
- The art of Mastering Strumming
- The perfect finger picking techniques
- How to play an acoustic or electric guitar
- How to easily tune your guitar
- Guitar theory & how to read music
- How to enjoy music & become proud of your achievements in playing!
WHAT YOU NEED
A positive attitude and an appetite for learning.
All lesson material is FREE.
To get the most from your lessons, everybody needs to practice at home. A good rule of thumb is 15+ minutes per day to get the most out of your weekly lessons.
If you are a beginner but don’t have an instrument just yet, and are still a little unsure if playing the guitar is actually for you, why not do a trial lesson with one of our guitars?
For those wanting to be super prepared for your lessons, owning your own guitar doesn’t have to be overly expensive… a pre-loved guitar will work just as well as a brand new one!
LESSON INFORMATION
Enrolment of students happens every week of the year, so no need to wait for a new semester or school year to start!
Lessons run for 30mins each & are booked in advance. Lessons are strictly one on one sessions, no groups.
Parents/guardians are encouraged to listen/watch during lessons.
Lessons can be taken for beginners, intermediate & advanced musicians.
Opportunities exist for students who excel, to be trained to teach the guitar for our studio when positions become available.
** 24hrs notice must be given to be able to reschedule to a more appropriate lesson time within 2 weeks of a missed lesson, otherwise the lesson is considered forfeited. Multiple lessons may be put on hold for personal, scheduling or holiday purposes. **
